Thomas A. Schmidt (b. 1960)

 

1960 born in Nuremberg. 1980–86 studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts. 1987 Sponsorship award from the Fine Arts Association, Nuremberg. 1998 DAAD travel grant, Spain. 1993 Foundation of the artist group Inges idee in Berlin (with H. Hemmert, A. Lieber, G. Zey). 2000 teaching position at the Department of Fine Arts at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz. 2004-05 visiting professor at the Bauhaus University Weimar with Inges' idea. MFA course "Art in Public Spaces and New Artistic Strategies". Since winter semester 2005/06 visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, since winter semester 2008/09 professor.

 

 

1960 geboren in Nürnberg. 1980–86 Studium der Malerei an der Hochschule der Künste, Berlin. 1987 Förderpreis des Förderkreises Bildende Kunst, Nürnberg. 1998 DAAD-Reisestipendium, Spanien. 1993 Gründung der Künstlergruppe Inges Idee in Berlin (mit H. Hemmert, A. Lieber, G. Zey). 2000 Lehrauftrag am FB Bildende Kunst der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität, Mainz. 2004-05 Gastprofessur an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar mit Inges Idee. MFA-Studiengang „Kunst im öffentlichen Raum und neue künstlerische Strategien“. Seit WS 2005/06 Gastprofessur an der Akademie für bildende Künste an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität, Mainz, seit WS 2008/09 Professor.
