John Hammond
John Hammond from Grays, Essex worked for 10 years as advertising photographer in London before moving to Germany in 1975.
In 1993 the curators John and Renate Hammond founded their agency for art consultancy Art-Agency Hammond in Fürth, Germany. The experience they gathered earlier while running their gallery, Galerie am Theater (1979 - 1992) in Fürth and their contacts to the international art world formed the basis of their present company.
Together they were the curators of excellent exhibition projects including SPIEL-RAUM (1990), a national artist competition, DENNIS HOPPER (1992) a one man show with photos and paintings by the interdisciplinary artist and AUFBRUCH – MODERNE AFRIKANISCHE KUNST (1996 ) the first Africa festival in Fürth.
Only one year earlier in 1995 they founded together with the well known art collector Dr. Bernd Kleine-Gunk Galerie ZAK (1995 - 2002) a gallery for contemporary African art.
SiemensForum Erlangen commissioned John Hammond to curate exhibitions including LIFE COLOURS (2002), ASPECTS OF ASIA (2003) and FACING EAST (2004).
Exhibitions also regularly organised by Art-Agency Hammond, with specifically adapted concepts take place in Fürth at the Stadttheater, Sparkasse, Klinikum and Schloss Burgfarrnbach. The integration of Business Art in banks, hospitals and firms like Quelle, Schickedanz Holding in Fürth, GFK and Lucent in Nuremberg, and Siemens in Erlangen, form a main part of the work as art consultancy.
In Memory of Mick Rock who passed away on 18 November 2021.
