Anjo Haase (b. 1971)

Anjo Haase was born in 1971 in Hanover, Germany. A largely self-taught artist, he has been drawing cartoons for more than 20 years. His work is strongly influenced by the cartoonist Kriki, particularly by his collage-like visual approach.

Haase’s distinctive style combines drawing with photographic elements and references to art history, integrating works by old masters ranging from Albrecht Dürer to Caspar David Friedrich.

In 2004, Anjo Haase placed fifth in the cartoon competition The Bottom Line Agenda. He participated in the exhibition Not for Cyclops in 2010, part of the Erlangen Comic Salon. He was nominated for the German Cartoon Prize (Carlsen Verlag) and, in 2011, won third place in the cartoon competition …until the Final Whistle.

Anjo Haase lives and works in Fürth, Bavaria.

Anjo Haase wurde 1971 in Hannover geboren. Der weitgehend autodidaktische Künstler zeichnet seit mehr als 20 Jahren Cartoons. Sein Werk ist stark vom Cartoonisten Kriki beeinflusst, insbesondere von dessen collageartiger Bildsprache.

Haases unverwechselbarer Stil verbindet Zeichnung mit fotografischen Elementen sowie kunsthistorischen Bezügen. Dabei integriert er Werke alter Meister von Albrecht Dürer bis Caspar David Friedrich.

Im Jahr 2004 belegte Anjo Haase den fünften Platz beim Cartoon-Wettbewerb The Bottom Line Agenda. 2010 nahm er an der Ausstellung Not for Cyclops teil, die im Rahmen des Erlanger Comic-Salons stattfand. Er wurde für den Deutschen Cartoonpreis (Carlsen Verlag) nominiert und erreichte 2011 den dritten Platz beim Cartoon-Wettbewerb …bis zum Schlusspfiff.

Anjo Haase lebt und arbeitet in Fürth, Bayern.

This work was given by Anjo Haase to John and Renate Hammond on the occasion of his solo exhibition Anjo vs. Dürer und die anderen großen Meister (Anjo versus Dürer and the Other Great Masters) at the Sparkasse Fürth in 2012.
