Hermann Holzhauser (1926 - 2010)

Hermann Holzhauser was born in 1926 in Fürth, Bavaria.

Hermann Holzhauser was an aviator and model builder known from many events in Fürth. As a ten-year-old boy, Holzhauser was collecting feathers on Gustavstrasse, where he also lived, and using them to make airplanes.

His specialty were rubber motor-driven free-flying flight models made of bird feathers, with which he astonished his audience at numerous events. You could say that Hermann Holzhauser's creations made aerodynamics an art form. There were almost choreographically planned flight demonstrations of his feather-light works.

Thanks to his original appearances in many television programs (e.g. Hobbythek with Jean Pütz) and other public events outside of the world of aviation, Hermann Holzhauser has made friends all over the world.

With his smallest model, which had a wingspan of 10 mm and weighed 25 gr, he performed flawless gliding flights. This even made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 1988.

Hermann Holzhauser died in 2010.in Fürth, Bavaria.
